February is heart health month, and Friday, February 3, 2017 is National Wear Red Day. The physicians and staff at Prime Care Family Practice will be wearing our best red on February 3 in support of heart health. Join us in the effort to bring awareness to heart health!
According to the American Heart Association, heart disease and stroke cause 1 in 3 deaths among women each year, killing approximately one woman every 80 seconds. Many of these deaths could be prevented by making the right choices including diet, exercise and not smoking.
How can I keep my heart healthy?
- Maintain a healthy weight
- Stay physically active
- Don’t smoke
- Eat healthy food: fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, whole grains and limit sugar and processed foods
Wearing Red Improves Awareness
Since the first National Wear Red Day in 2003, 21% fewer women are dying from heart disease and more women are aware of the health threat. Keep the momentum going by wearing red Friday, Feb 3, 2017 to raise awareness and help improve heart health!
