February is heart health month, and Friday, February 1 is National Wear Red Day. The physicians and staff at Prime Care Family Practice will be wearing our best red on February 1 in support of heart health. Join us in the effort to bring awareness to heart health!
The Go Red for Women website says cardiovascular disease kills more women than the next four leading causes of death combined. 80% of cardiac events (such as heart attacks and strokes) in women could be prevented if we make the right choices including diet, exercise and not smoking.
Heart Health Awareness!
How can I keep my heart healthy?
- Maintain a healthy weight
- Stay physically active
- Don’t smoke
- Eat healthy food: fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, whole grains and limit sugar and processed foods
Wearing Red Improves Awareness
Since the first National Wear Red Day in 2003, 21% fewer women are dying from heart disease and more women are aware of the health threat. Keep the momentum going by wearing red Friday, Feb 1, 2013 to raise awareness and help improve heart health!
To lower your risk factors for heart disease, and many other types of medical conditions, Prime Care Family Practice is here to evaluate your health and help you lower the risk factors of heart disease, including high cholesterol, high blood pressure and diabetes.
